Our project is primarily supported by individual donations raised on the crowdfunding website experiment.com. If you would like to learn how to support Pakistan Wolf Project, please email us at pakistanwolfproject@gmail.com.
Your contributions will facilitate the expansion of our fieldwork initiatives for collecting data on Indian wolf presence, interview surveys and outreach events with local communities and pastoralists, and engaging local genetics labs and students in research.
We will expand the number of camera traps we are using to detect Indian wolf presence and recruit more field staff, whom we will contract through the provincial wildlife departments. We have successfully piloted this arrangement at two study sites with promising results. We plan to expand and implement our approach to other sites within southern Pakistan.
Contributions also support payments for sample collection materials, DNA extraction kits, reaction reagents, DNA extraction, and sequencing the mtDNA d-loop region at Dr. Rubab Naqvi's genetics lab.
The non-invasive genetics research will be an extension of our field surveys, where we will collect scat samples from the field during camera trap and interview surveys, and conduct a genetically informed species ID approach on scats to detect Indian wolf presence. We already have a social media intern at University of Education and plan to hire her to develop more awareness materials.
